At 3:47 p.m. on Thursday, April 27, Fairfax County Deputy Chief of Police for Investigations Eli Cory said that they received an emergency 911 call from a housekeeper who came across three bodies in the basement of a home in the 8500 block of Wild Spruce Drive in Springfield.

Upon arrival,Cody said that they found three victims - a man in his 40s, a woman in her 30s, and a man in his 20s - suffering from gunshot wounds.

The older man was shot once, while the other two victims suffered from multiple gunshot wounds, though investigators have not determined their relationship, pending the positive identification of the bodies.

At the time of the shooting, it is believed that the housekeeper, a nanny, and a 2-year-old toddler were inside an upper level of the home, officials said.

The shooting is believed to be domestic in nature, according to investigators.

Cody said that there was no signs of forced entry into the home, and they are not ruling out any possibilities, including a possible murder-suicide, though the investigation is still in its infancy.

"We're looking to see what happened in the time the shooting occurred and the (housekeeper) called 911," he continued. "We're working to determine what happened, or if it was something else. There were multiple wounds to the upper body."

Three children - two of which were not home at the time the investigation was launched - are now being cared for by the family's live-in nanny and family friends.

Cody said that the department is now working to ID the victims and are canvassing the neighborhood in an effort to determine the timeline of events that led to the triple fatal shooting.
